5 Questions to Ask a Web Designer
So, you have put some thought and a little research into
building a website, or rather having it built for you by
a web design company. You have an idea
of what you want in the site and an approximate budget for
development now it is time to look for a web developer to
but life into your project. There are several things, you
should ask web developer you are thinking of hiring and
I will briefly give you some hints here.
Hopefully, it will mean the difference between getting what
you want and being duped.
- Ask to see some of their previous work, some stuff
that is within the range of the budget you
have.
- Maybe ask for a couple references of satisfied
customers so you can talk to someone who has
had experience with this group. A few things you might
want to ask the customers is 1) if their goals for the
site were met, and was it through the designer’s
work that it came about? 2) How easy is he to work with?
3) Was your work finished on time and within budget?
After interviewing them, you should have a better idea
if you want to continue or look elsewhere.
- When do you figure the project will be done and when will
it go on the web live? And the biggie: How much will it
cost?
- You have to check the infrastructure
of the company you are hiring. You need to look for
a design company that will turn the completed design
and code to you when it is finished, finish on time
and within budget. It is very important to know if the
project is billed hourly or by the project. Most of
the time, the fixed price is preferred for motivation
to a quickly completed job.
- How is the site going to be managed? Will there be
some kind of software development you
need to get, and will they assist you for site
maintenance and updates when needed?
- Can you give me a brief tour of the technologies that
are planned on for the design? What is used is important,
yes but the way the agency answers the question is much
more important. It should be answered in term you can
understand and not with purely technical talk. Talks
with customer care centers of companies
often reflect the competency and approach towards the
work.
And finally
- DO you have any questions for me? This is important
so everyone understands the project and there are no unfinished
statements between you and the designer.
